An efficient and sustainable agricultural sector with Agrodox®
On 20th March 2023, the final installment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) was released. The report, which is nearly 8,000 pages long, is the work of the most authoritative scientific body on climate change. The IPCC synthesis report provides the latest and most comprehensive scientific assessment of climate change available.
One of the areas it touches upon is the impact of climate change on food production. Food production is a complex process that involves a broad range of activities and factors. This essential industry affects the health and well-being of people globally, yet the value chain remains traditional. Agrodox® is changing that.
Urgent action
Agrodox®, is dedicated to tackling the 9th urgent action related to the reduction of food waste and improving agricultural practices.
It begins with enabling the sustainability of small family farms. Small family farms are exposed to many risks. Various barriers prevent them from effectively managing those risks. Margins are razor thin, opportunities are lost due to geographic location i.e., distance between farm and buyer location, as well as lack of capacities to fulfill the requirements of buyers. In Croatia, the number of family farms dropped from over one hundred and fifty thousand in 2020 to one hundred and twenty-eight thousand in 2022. These figures from the agricultural registry clearly show the economic difficulty faced by smaller producers.
A new approach to value creation
Agrodox® is all about circularity in the way value is created, delivered, and captured. We work to keep family farms in business, while protecting the environment. Through deep knowledge of the sector, technology has been developed to deploy a range of techniques and practices that boost sustainability e.g., soil carbon sequestration, water/resource management, utilisation of waste, and optimisation of distribution.
The Agrodox® approach consists of integrated actions working across the agricultural value chains, following the principles of circular economy. The IPCC’s AR6 emphasizes the immense risks of inaction on climate, and that the way ahead requires change at a scale not seen before. Agrodox® is leading that shift in the field of sustainable agriculture for the betterment of people and the planet.
